I enjoyed the essay very much, and I thought it was essentially right-on.

A couple of thoughts: America has never been a Christian nation; America happens to have a majority population of Christians, but that does not translate in America functioning as "Christian." Any attempt to do so --- for example, having a born-again Christian in the White House --- elicits the full wrath of the anti-God, anti-Christian,dark spiritual forces.

Also, the ultimate reality is that we are engaged in a spiritual battle of good versus evil, God versus Satan. Our physical world and all of its permutations of good and evil are but a manifestation of the hidden, true battle. Christians wage the battle against powers and principalities, not flesh and blood.

The harvesting of men's souls for the Kingdom is a pursuit we believers are commanded to pursue. However, all we can do is present the Gospel, the Good News of Jesus and God's great love for us and the realization of the meaning of Jesus' sacrificial death and glorious resurrection. From that point, the Holy Spirit takes over and the non-believer either listens and accepts or ignores God's invitation.

Bottom line is that it is heartening to know that the ultimate outcome of the battle is already predetermined and God and His children win.
