I have experienced “sacred cow theology” to the third degree. I have heard the speech on Paul’s thorn more times than I care to remember. I really enjoyed this article on the sacred cow of needing to feel led by the Spirit before doing anything. I love seeing sacred cows get exposed for the lie they represent and then barbecued. It was rather exciting to see that someone else has a problem with this sacred cow theology that the Church hands out like candy to the sick. Believe me, I have much experience at being a recipient of this sad theology. My husband suggested that instead of letting it aggravate me that I should write about it. He actually said that many Christians have a normal brain and a religious brain they think with, and that the religious brain is stupid. In the daily life of the working world we use our normal brain, then when it comes to spiritual matters we use our ‘stupid brain’ to make decisions that only make sense in the confines of certain bad theology.

I didn’t think I’d get away with it if I quoted him exactly like that and not offend people reading.
