They have to figure things out on their own sometimes. I too have a 15 year old and he too has some identity issues. I think it's the age because it is when they are trying to figure themselves out and they have tons of people telling them who to be like. I have three other children that also went through the similar events in their lives and now that they are a little older, they are able to convict their selves on what they were doing wrong and change that behavior for the better. They are all modeling now and I know that my son will see us eventually and want to make a change. Just pray continually that Jesus will reveal his love to him and give him a conscience that is spotless and clean. We can lead the child to the water but we cannot make him drink. God has all wisdom and knows the end from the beginning, so it's important to seek him for decisions we make each day because human reasoning can be dangerous. It started in the garden. However, don't let the principles laid forth in this post make you look back in your life and your child rearing and assume that because your son is choosing of his own free will to not follow Jesus that this is somehow the same thing as you not reproducing the Gospel inside of you. Your son still has choices of his own. Isaiah 55:10-11 does say the Word of the Lord will not return void but accomplish its purpose, so don't stop praying and doing anything you can to water that seed, because seeds in their DNA don't look like the massive trees they're capable of becoming. Keep praying over your son's live and speaking forth the Word of God and declaring the promises of God over his life. I will take a moment to pray right now over your son's life as this is fresh on my mind. Thanks for stopping by and feeling it ok to be vulnerable and share this with us. My wife and I have taught him, and lived a life of faith, and honesty by example before him. Yet he lies repeatedly since an early age, we live our life with Christ before him and what he is as a young man right now is what were told we are reproducing our own self, yet hes dishonest, lazy, self centered and angry. We certainly have sin in our life that were always dealing with, but we continue to keep on keeping on in our walk and pusuit of God and live it out openly and honestly before our children....I am crushed and confused at what seems to be the exact oposite coming from my son, knowing that yhis is what I am producing.
