Clinton E. Arnold has written a fasicinating disertation on Ephesians titled: Power and Magic: The Concept of Power in Ephesians. In his conclusion he states, “Ephesians appears to have been written to a group of churches in western Asia Minor needing help developing a Christian perspective on the “powers” and encouragement in their ongoing struggles with these pernicious spirit-forces.” In a layman’s terms, Ephesians is Paul manual on conducting spiritual warfare.

Hey Steve, I have not read his work but that is a great perspective in Ephesians and as I will state in ch 3 notes, it is part of the very purpose of the entire church. Thanks for your input. Do you have a link to Arnold’s work. It would be insightful to me and our readers. I have had trouble finding works on Ephesians that do not filter out the necessity of power within the church.
