Virgin Mary

What could possibly be greater in the world than being over-shadowed by God’s Holy Spirit to birth The Christ into the world?

Mary was chosen by God not only because her lineage went back to David (II Samuel 7.14) but because of the mixture of three qualities that I believe are highly flammable to the Holy Spirit. I believe that these three qualities are the essence of what God sees as a landing pad for His Glory. Remember that wherever God lets His glory rest, there JESUS will be made manifest. All of God’s desires can be summed up in a revelation of JESUS. Everything that God does is to reveal JESUS. Any work that you have before you to accomplish in God is to reveal JESUS. This will not be possible apart from His manifest presence. It is never possible to truly see JESUS without the presence and work of the Holy Spirit.

The first thing that must be noted about Mary is that she was a “virgin” (Luke 1.34). Virginity is typical of “purity.” It is to not have had relations with another outside of covenant. Mary’s virginity is symbolic of being un-spotted by the world. It is to have not had any intercourse with this world. It is to be separated and consecrated unto One. It is what Paul was jealous for in 2 Cor. 11.2-3, “to present you a pure virgin…” Virginity is a tremendous word to show forth purity, righteousness and holiness.

The second thing that must be noted about Mary is her humility (Luke 1.48). When the angel came to her and told her what she was to do, her response was amazing. “How can this be for I am a virgin…” She recognized her inability. She recognized her absolute state of powerlessness to perform the deed herself. Her humility was manifest in the surrender of laying down of her bankruptcy at the feet of His riches.

The third thing that must be noted about Mary is the fact that she was a “bond-slave” (Luke 1.48). A bond-slave is a slave by will. She was the Lord’s. Her existence was completely His. He knew that. He could rest upon her.

The summary is this; God must overshadow us with the Holy Ghost to fulfill His purposes in the earth. There is no other way. If the poverty of humility is mixed with the purity of virginity and the loving not of your life, in a slavery unto God by our own will, there is nothing that is more flammable in the earth.

Ask yourself, where am I impure? Where do I need the blood of JESUS to wash me, fresh? Ask yourself, where have I lifted myself up? Have I failed to fall on my face and acknowledge my bankruptcy? Ask yourself, where have I loved my own life? Where have I not laid my life down before the Lord? Ask yourself, am I freshly filled with the Holy Ghost? Am I living continually being filled with the Holy Spirit?

This mixture is the MARY MIXTURE. It births the divine things in the earth. It births a wonderful revelation of JESUS. Our model is the Son. He is only made manifest in us, as much as we can host Him, Himself in our lives through such a real absolute surrender, utter dependency and total reliance.
