My New Site

Well, my new personal site, Just Your Average Revolutionary now finally has a domain name. I don’t know why I didn’t do this sooner! I started my own blog with this same title over six years ago at Blogger, and then a couple years ago migrated to WordPress where I found it to have much nicer looking themes, but a lot more limitations in terms of what I could do with the HTML code on the site.  Podcasting and article writing for the whole Fire On Your Head online ministry God birthed in me at that time as well, has also since provided me with valuable web experience and has sharpened my writing skills, and even led to some “tentmaking” and making sites for others using my knowledge, in order to support myself on the mission field in Peru.  God’s brought me a long way in these six years from simple blogging, to writing for a magazine like site.

So I thought, “why don’t I start my own site” as well?

Well, here it is! I hope you like it, and my intention is to have a place to sharpen my skills as a writer, and continue to post articles here on Fire On Your Head, where I serve as general editor as well. But I also started this new more personal site to get back to what I started six years ago—blogging. Not just writing articles–which I will continue to do, and have several drafts on the go based on my favorite book of the Bible–the Song of Solomon. But as for journaling and expressing myself sarcastically as a way of coping with the goings-on that make no sense to you when you’re a foreigner in a different culture, such as I am.

As I looked back through some of my archived blogs, I was brought to some stories I’d completely forgotten about when I lived in the Netherlands, but was glad I had taken the time to write about them at those times. I hope to get back into that habit, because if you don’t already know this about me, I’m approaching the two-year mark of living as a missionary in Peru, and there’s some darned interesting things that happen to me on a daily basis that I think a few of you would love to hear, but aren’t really relevant to post on the Fire Press site. If you find yourself frequenting my new site, you’ll have to get used to me using the phrase “T.I.P.”

That being said, I do hope to post more regularly and shorter entries and keep the site up as a journal as well as a writing portfolio for my more fiery posts I share here, but also to serve as a suitable place where I can post goofy things that suit my sense of humor–you know that sinful part of us Jesus doesn’t like it if we have? Just kidding. THAT was sarcasm. I think he’s got a wonderful sense of humor, and if you don’t believe me, then just look in a mirror.

Oh, and it will also be a place to share personal opinions about things as well. You know, a place where it’s just ME whose name looks bad if I’m wrong, and not another group of people or a ministry I’m a part of. Hopefully, I won’t make Jesus look stupid either though with my writings, as Tony Campolo said so eloquently in one of his book titles, I’m just trying to follow Jesus without embarrassing God. That’s basically the sum-up of who I am and what I’ll be writing.

Blessings and fire on your head,
