Absolutely, Wanda! This reminds me of an interesting explanation I heard concerning the NT story of the disciples trying to cast out a demon from a little boy. (See Mt 17, Mark 9, Luke 9.) They were unable to deliver him, but when Jesus showed up, He cast the evil spirit out. The disciples asked Jesus about their own inability, and Jesus responded, “This kind comes not out but by prayer and fasting.” We usually assume that “this kind” means “this kind of demonic spirit”. However, it has been suggested that Jesus meant “this kind of unbelief.” This would mean that the disciples were hindered by their lack of faith and expectation, and the only way to increase their faith and expectancy of the supernatural would be to spend time in prayer, time with the God of the supernatural!

I agree. The problem is not with God or His word but in our expectency (i.e. faith level) in that particular area. Our lack of faith makes its it to be ineffective in our lives.

Tom I agree, there is no verse that says God does not heal anymore. The passage most use is found in 1 Corinthians 13:10.

Part of our heart for this site is to encourage believers who are not experiencing these things and start a fire in their hearts to see the power and miracles of God. Our heart needs to be here to see them expand their visions. Just because they are not here yet, does not mean that they are “so called believers.” So let us work together to share with them the fire of God!

So called believers say that God does not heal anymore.
Yet they can’t point to a single verse in their bible that supports that statement.
That’s because there is no such verse.
I would ask them, when was the last time they ever heard a teaching on healing?
Remember Faith comes from hearing…..No hearing….NO FAITH….
WAKE UP PEOPLE….Jesus Christ is the SAME, yesterday, today and FOREVER.

Amen. There is so much Jewish bridal language surrounding the return of Christ, that was instantly understood by the original recipients of these teachings yet is totally lost on us! The “context” is not just the chapter surrounding the verse, but the culture surrounding the original audience. Just as a first-century Jew would have no clue what was taking place when a man in a 21st century American movie would get down on his knee and hold up a ring, so we have culturally-limited understanding of much of His return. The first coming looked exactly like a Jewish betrothal; the prophecy of the return looks exactly like a Jewish wedding. Further detail about 1st century Jewish weddings makes it abundantly clear what is going on. A pre-tribulation rapture is the exact picture of a bridegroom whose been stood up at the altar . . . it’s a scared, nervous Bride skipping town before her wedding day.

Prayer and the Power of His Forgiveness. This glory that God is pouring out is more than this earthen vessel can contain. There will be an overflow of His anointing in your life that will cause the blessings of God to pour out upon his people and through out this nation. You will find that this place is too small too restricting. I must increase my dwelling place, I must expand my habitation. Extend the cords, the outreach of the Lords ministry in and through us. Great insight, Steve! I couldn’t agree more and really appreciated this. The words of Jeremiah 31:33 came to mind: “This is the covenant I will make with the house of Israel after that time,” declares the LORD. “I will put my law in their minds and write it on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people.” (It’s all in the heart. It’s all about who you love!) To find the reference of that verse, I searched the words “in their hearts” on biblegateway.com. Anyone whose interested in this theme should do the same thing. I was amazed to notice how many verses reveal that the prosperity (not just physically, but spiritually–ie revival) or poverty of the nation and the individuals goes the way of their hearts. Basically there is revival when the hearts (love) are turned to God, and disaster when the hearts (their love) go after that which is not the true God. It’s not what their lips are saying, or how many animals they’re sacrificing, but what their hearts are feasting on. AMAZING! It all depends on love. In fact, in his great encounter with the prophets of Baal, Elijah prayed, “Answer me, O LORD, answer me, so these people will know that you, O LORD, are God, and that you are turning their hearts back again.” (1 Kings 18) As the heart goes, so goes the nation.

I love what you have written on the apostolic church. More and more I realize how the Jesus that is preached is “American” and not kingdom. We are in a time when we must make adjustments in our thinking – as it says, “as a man thinks so he is.” We have been guilty of buiding on the activity of the kingdom rather then the King or the Person of Jesus our Messiah. I Co 3:11 His preeminence in all things must be our focus. As Paul said on the Damascus road, “Who are you Lord?” then he said, “What do you want me to do?” I am blessed by this article and it just challenges me as a leader to guard my heart from “drifting” into that place where we make the focus of our ministries on what the people want rather then what He wants. Yes the activity of the Kingdom manifests through signs and wonders, refreshing and reviving, deliverance and restoration. Yes, the River of God does make glad the people of God but let us never forget what Isaiah said, “what kind of house will you build for me?” Thank you so much for your labor to call us all into apostolic order!
