Fire On Your Head” started as the title for a podcast two FIRE International missionaries to the Netherlands got as an outgrowth of their nightly accountability Skype conversations at the time.  Being in different cities, Steve Bremner and Dan Slavin spoke regularly over Skype and prayed for each other.  Eventually they decided to start their own podcast after realizing how easy it would be to do so, and as a way of promoting the upcoming 2007 Fire For Life Summer School in that country.  The intent was to have mp3s of previous summer school classes made available online in order to refer to people who may be thinking of coming.  But the two also decided to record a talk show style recording and talk about various Pentecostal and charismatic topics from a Biblical perspective, believing a discussion was a more dynamic form of mp3 to listen to than a ‘sermon’-like teaching.   It worked, as our talk show gets noticeably more downloads than any of the messages by relatively high profile speakers who are also on our feed.

Dan and Steve eventually picked the name ‘Fire On Your Head” because frankly, Dan would say that all the time.  It was catchy, easy to remember, and had the word ‘fire’ in it.  On the day of Pentecost, when the Holy Spirit fell, there were flames as of fire on each of their heads in the upper room.  We firmly believe there’s no point in asking the Holy Spirit to come down if you have no head, (or nothing in it).  We are grieved about the amount of flakiness we see in the movement we identify ourselves with, and seek to ground people in Biblica

l principles, but yet provide a source of teachings and apologetics for various topics distinct to the Pentecostal and Charismatic segment of Christianity.  We at F.O.Y.H. want fire in our heads and yours, not just in our hearts.

As they hit their stride and covered different sacred cows and tried covering various taboo topics with a non-confrontational discussion style, it became evident this podcast was reaching people outside of the Netherlands.  So likewise, they decided to market it to anybody on the internet, not just the Dutch.  Over time, with discipleship and teaching prominently on their hearts and minds, Dan and Steve would link to related articles ‘for further study’ in the show notes on their website and encourage people to visit them.  However, most of the time the only articles on some topics covered were on Steve’s personal blog.

The link for the podcast being too hard for people to casually remember prompted us to register the domain name www.fireonyourhead.com and have it link to the podcast site.  When doing so, Steve distinctly heard the Lord tell him to also register www.fireonyourhead.org for reasons unknown to him at the time.  In the weeks and months to come, the Lord put it on his heart to start a website that was still of the “Fire On Your Head” DNA and vision, but for articles and writings, the same way the podcast was for audios and videos.  Knowing other individuals burning with a passion for authentic Christianity, and skilled with writing, Steve asked certain individuals to co-author the blog site with him and make it an article site and not a personal blog.  Fortunately, each initial person Steve wrote to or called felt virtually the same burden for such a site, and in various forms were each feeling the Lord wanting to have them step out more in the area of inspired writing.  Each of us feel the same stirring—this was confirmation that we’re on to something and believe this site is from the heart of God.

The result (basically) is “Fire on Your Head – The Blog”—Articles to stir you up and provoke you towards revival.  In keeping with the ‘discussion’ format of the FOYH podcast, discussion is fostered and encouraged in the comments section and our site’s forum.

We believe that charismatic Christianity has a black eye in the Body of Christ despite such rich Biblical truths, and each of us is gripped in one way or another to be a source of edification to the Body of Christ at large who may come across this site and be impacted, challenged, and changed from digesting these writings.

We hope to challenge you and stir you to a burning heart within you and a fire on your head with these articles.

If you’d like to submit any articles for our site, then please email it to fireonyourhed@gmail.com (note there’s no ‘a’ in head–that address was taken already pfff!), along with an appropriate picture of your choosing that you would like to include with it.  It’s not promised we will post it, especially if it’s flaky and heretical, but if all of the main writers think it’s worth posting, we will.

The opinions expressed in this blog do not necessarily represent the views of all contributors. Each individual is responsible for the facts, opinions, and Scripture references contained in their posts. We all have in common a relationship with the Lord characterized by a flowing in the charismatic gifts, and an experience with either the Brownsville Revival and or FIRE School of Ministry, but being a part of those things is not a prerequisite for posting on this site if you have an article you’d like to submit for consideration.

The views and opinions expressed on the Fire On Your Head blog, as well as podcast–including but not limited to the mp3 messages used by various people associated with us whose teachings we put on the podcast feed–do not necessarily reflect the views of any of our local church leadership, or our mentors and teachers we have access to through our relationships with FIRE School of Ministry, FIRE Church, and FIRE International.  Our site is independent of them and not a “FIRE site”, even though we sometimes post articles with permission and most of us are graduates from said school. We highly doubt they’d have a problem with our teachings.  We’re just a bunch of people with a passion for writing, posting articles on an easy to remember link on the internet.
